Stay Cool at Wild Wadi Water Park
Get on board at Wild Wadi Water Park in Dubai to stay cool in the hot temperature of the UAE! It's a 17-water slides, 3-pools water park operated by Jumeirah International, a Dubai-based hotelier. Wild Wadi is themed around the tale of Juha, a known character from the Arabian folklore.
Luckily for us, we were staying at the Jumeriah Emirates Towers and our hotel key cards provides access to complimentary tickets to this water park (275 AED value per adult). We also had a free shuttle bus from the hotel directly to Wild Wadi Water Park. Of course, we fit this into the intinerary to take full advantage of this Jumeriah guest benefit. We only had to pay for a small locker and food for lunch at the park. They also provided complimentary towels to all guests.
This first ride we go on to get it out of the way was Jumeriah Scream. The name of this ride even makes you wonder what is going to happen to make you scream. It's a tall, fast, free-fall water slide rising to 108 ft with riders reaching speeds up to 50 mph. You start by standing up, they countdown from 3, and the bottom platform you're standing on is removed, dropping you into the water slide to scream away in the 3-5 seconds you're falling and landing horizontally on the slide. Sound scary yet? If not, take a look at the Ask Explorer's YouTube video that captures this ride and GIFS from the video below:
Now, the crazy ride is out of the way and I'm proud of myself for getting on that with Will. Personally, I have not been to a water park since I was younger when I almost drowned in 3 feet. I know it sounds pathetic, but it's one of those traumatic moments and I chose to avoid water rides. In this case, we had FREE entry and Will was dying to go. I told him I would sacrifice my life for him and go to this water park. Yes, it sounds all dramatic...do you know how I felt before going on Jumeriah Scream?! Terrified! I sucked it up and did it and it was exhilarating. Although, I wouldn't go on it again any time soon. It's a big kudos for me to step outside my comfort zone thanks to my supportive partner.
We whipped through all the other rides and were lucky for short or no lines. I recommend if you do check out this park, try to go during opening hours and you'll save time with no waiting on lines. We were on a time crunch after lunch to head back to our hotel and get ready for the Desert Safari. We didn't have time or else I would have loved to try their Fish Spa called FISHO inside the water park costing 55 AED for 20 minutes. It is a new and fun alternative health and beauty treatment using toothless Garra Ruffa fish to safely and gently exfoliate the feet. The fish clean pores, remove dead skin cells and also serve as a micro massage of the feet and legs, improving blood circulation. This is on my bucket list to try next time!
To wrap up this post, I'll share some shots I took around the park before we left. While you're at the park, you have incredible views in Dubai including Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
